Live Q&A with David Verdesi
It began with what seemed like a simple question: Is waking up early better for you?
But as David so often does, he unraveled this question like a seam in an old garment, exposing the belief system stitched tightly beneath it. The idea that waking up at dawn makes you more productive, more spiritual, or somehow “better” is not a truth—it’s a story we’ve inherited, repeated, and accepted without pause.
David asked us to consider this deeply: Where does this belief come from? Who told you it was true? And, most importantly, what are you chasing when you rise before the sun?
For David, the obsession with waking early reflects something deeper—a need to control, to optimize, to hold life tightly in our grasp. But the truth, he argued, is far more fluid. Whether you wake at sunrise or noon is irrelevant; what matters is what you do with your waking hours. Life’s “freshness” doesn’t arrive with the morning air—it arises from your ability to engage with what you know you should be doing, to take action aligned with your purpose. The early hours may feel sacred, but as David reminded us, sacredness is not found in the clock—it’s found in the conscious, deliberate work of living.
